The High and Mighty
Male Motown Singer

This kind of Motown singer and the "Macho" one from elsewhere aren't mutually exclusive--note Marvin and Stevie's appearance in both. A tenor or falsetto doesn't mean un-masculine, either. Nor does a low voice make a man sound uncaring. (How much do I agree with that last statement!)

However, it is easier to imagine these artists suavely whispering into ladies' ears, at whatever pitch, than their more boisterous colleagues. The ability of some to sing higher than high without much straining helps them shape their gentler styles.

Which of these male Motown singers has
the most sensitive voice?

Marvin Gaye
Eddie Kendricks
Smokey Robinson
Jimmy Ruffin
Stevie Wonder
