Miracles Songs and Albums -
Super Naturals

It's startling how effortlessly old Miracles songs balance different elements. Smokey Robinson's high tenor never turns so airy as to lose emotional heft. Meanwhile, Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore, Ronnie White, and Claudette Rogers know when to swell and ebb in the background or engulf listeners with their voices.

Generally, I pay more attention to music than lyrics. But I can't just hum or "da da" my way through classic Miracles songs. My mouth keeps trying to wrap around words!

Poetic purity, alongside enchanting melodies and compelling vocal gymnastics, solidifies the allure of the best Miracles songs.

With Smokey, the Miracles flitted between dance tunes, R&B ballads, funk, and pop. Under Billy Griffin, they frolicked between the elegant, sugary, and risqué. The albums below cover the group's musical mutations from Motown to Columbia.
